RINSE - Lude Jaw

| Kerri
Wanted it all
Well I want it all
I’m feeling the moods changing more
What’s that all about?
It’s finding the time
To give it a try
I’m hoping that you can change your mind
Or live with a lie

If that what it is
It’s under my skin
I’m watching you run around in love
But not out with him
And I can’t get it right
So I won’t get involved
I can’t be the wall, I hold your hand
That’s where I belong

I accidentally discovered another Australian band (this one shoegazers from Brisbane) that I wish I could see live but they're still too small and unknown to get to me anytime soon. (It's a little comical at this point, when I go to research the band behind the song I like and find out they are from Oz. I swear it's not on purpose, there's just way too many of them to only post when Keith is down under.) Anyway, searching for info on RINSE only links to a neglected Facebook page and a semi-active Twitter account, from which I glean the blokes have moved to England where they have quite a few more gigs than before, so keep grinding boys!

Radkey - Cat & Mouse

| Keith
Are you scared, my dear?
The psychopath is coming is here
Are you used to it, my love?
The psychopath wants you to run
He had you in his gaze
He let you get away for fun
You're running in his maze
His fun has only just begun
You better run, he's coming for you
Nowhere to run, he's coming for you
Nowhere to hide, he's going to take your life
No one to cry to, he's going to take your life

Ok, folks, I've got a super cool band for you this fine Tuesday evening. They're called Radkey, after the last name of the three brothers from Missouri, and they formed in classic garage band fashion; teaching themselves how to play and practicing at home until they got their first break landing a show opening for Fishbone.

They've since released an album, Dark Black Makeup, which pretty much rules, and have toured all over the place. I've yet to see them, but excited to do that as soon as I get a chance. They've got a sound perfect for live music, it's fast, driving and hard and perfect for a good headbang.

Check out "Cat & Mouse", of their debut EP, and if you like that, give their other stuff a listen. It's all good.

Pile - Special Snowflakes

| Keith
Mornings come with birds and kids
Talking to themselves for some reason
And wrists can vibrate at a comfortable rate
to get you to sleep or keep you from it

I first heard Pile on my Discover Weekly playlist; the rocking "Baby Boy" which instantly hooked me. I don't know much about them, but I had a similar feeling first listening to "Special Snowflakes." It's a dirty, slow-building rock cut that puts the focus on a grinding bass rhythm, some sweet change up and an aggressive chorus. Good stuff.

For more check out for "Baby Boy" below from their album Dripping.

Wildlife Control - Illusion

| Kerri

Illusion is part one of the Particles trilogy, the latest passion project from Wildlife Control, techy brothers who base their occasional music endeavors on what they're learning and exploring. The full twelve minute album (and video, released together as they were made together) is pleasant and interesting, without being too thrilling for a Sunday eve.

Whale Tooth - Growing Pains

| Kerri
I'm afraid that when I'm older this will all make sense
I was trained to try 'n shoulder all the weight of it
I'll remember when we were young and we found ourselves
Living reckless with abandon, felt like time stood still
Felt like time stood still

A few years back, I was hooked on a Canadian series about struggling wanna-be-stars called The L.A. Complex. The short-lived show featured Whale Tooth jamming in the background during pretty much every episode of the first season. And I liked them. They released only one album before lead Elise LeGrow went solo. Listening to it inevitably reminds me of the binge-worthy (it is available on Netflix right now) dramedy set in Los Angeles, which is where Keith and I are this weekend. Beach, bike rides, and fantasy football! Didn't pick a song terribly on the nose this time... Except that the name of the restaurant in our hotel is Baleen, a coincidence I find a bit amusing.
