Parcels - Overnight

| Keith
The minute I was thinking
to hold you back.
The moment I was wishing,
it's overnight.

TGIF! The latest track from Aussie retro-pop band, Parcels, is a perfect cut to get the weekend going and/or your dance party started. If you're into groovy, smooth and well-crafted dance music Parcels has what you're looking for. It's good stuff. Check out "Allaround" and "Older".

I'm writing this on Tuesday night (a TMIS secret, don't tell) from San Francisco, my favorite city, and I'm already thinking about the weekend. Kerri is coming and, fingers-crossed, we're going to do some much-loved shakin' and here's to hoping Parcels is on the playlist.

SLØTFACE - Nancy Drew

| Keith

Sløtface is shit that Patty Smith would put up with. Give a casual listen and you'll hear a pop-punk outfit with nice distinctive sound. Good stuff, sure. Pay attention and you'll hear subtle and complicated arrangements that get better with every release, thoughtful lyrics and a point of view that stands out. "Nancy Drew" is the latest single off their upcoming debut LP, Try Not to Freak Out, which comes out soon. Check out previous Most Important, "Sponge State", it's a good one.

RIYL: Honeyblood, Bad Cop, Bad Cop, Wolf Alice, Black Honey

Upcoming Shows

High Sunn - Ramen Waitress

| Kerri
You keep me warm
Please give me more
Your shiny hair
Keeps me in stare

High Sunn is an angsty, dreamy little lo-fi indie band put together by a young San Franciscan, Justin Cheromiah. He lists OMD as a top influence so that explains my attraction. Check out his/their latest EP, Hopeless Romantic, and if you like go back and peruse the surprisingly prolific back catalog (the boy is just 16).

RIYL: Real Estate, Tipling Rock, DIIV

They were all my friends, and they died.

This past month's Vinyl Me Please selection was a fun, mellow record from Kevin Morby, City Music. "1234" is a bit different from the folksy tunes that make up most of the album, but I love it. It's a short, sweet and rocking tribute to the Ramones. Enjoy.

RIYL: The Ramones, Kurt Vile, Father John Misty, Angel Olsen

Halsey feat. Lauren Jauregui - Strangers

| Kerri
She doesn't kiss me on the mouth anymore
'Cause it's more intimate
Than she thinks we should get
She doesn't look me in the eyes anymore
Too scared of what she'll see
Somebody holding me
When I wake up all alone
And I'm thinking of your skin
I remember, I remember what you told me

Said that we're not lovers
We're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all

A post-Pride Day song on TMIS, this track from Halsey (the first single from her sophomore album) is a lesbian lovers' song. I really really dig "Ghost" from Halsey's debut (bonus video, you're welcome). I'm not sure if this one will get as much revisiting or not, but I'm looking forward to spending some time with her new album.

RIYL: Flint Eastwood, Zella Day, Lorde, Sia
