The Vryll Society - A Perfect Rhythm

| Keith
This is what you want
Once you believe
Once you believe
This is what you see
Why won't you see?
Why won't you see?

I know next to nothing (yet) about The Vryll Society, but the couple tracks I've listened to are pretty great. "A Perfect Rhythm" seems a good representative of their work, which is atmospheric, groovy, and well put together.

Au/Ra - Kicks

| Kerri
Handprints in the concrete
They run, they run, like
Young birds with the red cheeks
Always
Barefoot on the sea glass
Sharp ones, sharp ones, they
Don't learn when they cut class

What's dust to you is gold to me
(Gold to me)
But we're just different books to read
Where every single chapter
Is another cliffhanger

Last year at SXSW, I fell in love with the music (and adorableness) of Norwegian singer Aurora. This year I'm anticipating a similar reaction to a similar-named singer from a very different place (Antigua; Ibiza-born), and a very different sound. Hoping to catch her at one of the showcases she's in next week.

The Clash - Lost in the Supermarket

| Keith
I'm all lost in the supermarket
I can no longer shop happily
I came in here for that special offer
A guaranteed personality

I'm not exactly sure what's going on here in Sydney with The Clash, but I love it. It had been ages since I heard "Lost in the Supermarket" and I heard it randomly twice today. And London Calling is one of the best albums ever. So. Yeah! Awesome. TMIS!

The Chain Gang 0f 1974 - Sleepwalking

| Kerri
Maybe we're just sleepwalking
Maybe we're just sleepwalking
Visions of better times
Kingdoms and lilac wine
Why did God fail
To improve us
Teardrops of acid rain
Burning down through my veins
Can't I just sleep for now
Now
Despite my fears
I dance for you
And did what others knew

Kamtin Mohager says this was the first song he recorded for the 2014 (first major studio) album for Chain Gang of 1974, Daydream Forever, but the people behind Grand Theft Auto V approached him around the same time and he was stoked to have this new song be such a big part of that release. Cool story, and cool that he's having continued success with that big bump in exposure. I was excited to see his band perform at SXSW this year, hopefully! (Though announced, I can't find them on the schedule?!?) Also, had to pick this song for today's Most Important because I'm dealing with the sleepwalking-effect of jet lag having returned to the U.S. last night. I just love it when I can pick out a song title or lyric that's on the nose. Such a nerd.

Maximo Park - Risk to Exist

| Keith
Ever felt like you're going nowhere, and you need a little help
I felt the same way in my life, that's when your friends improve the hand you're dealt
Now if we extend the situation
To a broad one instead of the self
How can we not extend a hand into the perilous waters of hell

The first cut and title track, from the forthcoming Maximo Park album Risk to Exist, is classic Maximo Park. Their brand of sharp, catchy and smart pop never gets old, and with each album they throw in a few exciting twists and turns to keep us on our toes. I'm excited for more new from them and, hopefully, to finally catch them live.
