Chvrches feat. Haley Williams - Bury It

| Kerri
Cover up, cover up
Cover up that you're ruthless
Nobody, nobody
Nobody's ever gonna notice
And I am catching up
And I am seeing red
How about I prove I'm right
And raise it overhead?

I wanted to keep on dancing this weekend, and keep on theme-ish. It's nearly impossible to tell the difference between Lauren's voice and Hayley's, and nothing remotely associated with rap, but I'm in charge here (sorta) so I'm saying it counts! This version of the song came out just a couple weeks ago, though the non-Hayley version was on Chvrches 2015 album Every Eye Open, and the danciest track from that album is probably "Clearest Blue." Check out the video below to see Lauren wearing some plated armor, and a bit of a dance party at the end.

Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For

| Kerri
Baby, this is what you came for
Lightning strikes every time she moves
And everybody's watching her
But she's looking at you

Last Friday I mentioned Rihanna and I wanted to take the opportunity to feature her here. I also think it's about time to include a pure dance track - it's summer and I'm in Vegas this weekend! Rihanna has so many songs that make me dance - or get me in the feels - I love her voice (Chris Martin does too). Rihanna has so many great collabs with talented men (Eminem, Drake, Jay-Z, Kanye, Calvin Harris, Coldplay, etc.) and women (Nicki Minaj, Shakira, SIA) that instead of trying to pick a fav (and excluding her much more extensive solo work), I simply chose the most recent single. As a bonus I'm including her most popular video, the emotionally charged first duet she made with Eminem. (PSA: If you are in a relationship even remotely like the one described below GTFO, ASAP.) She's a prolific powerhouse, and I'm sure she puts on an amazing show.

ETA: Love you Rihanna, but this song is being moved to our Pleasures playlist, where Calvin belongs.

Miike Snow feat. Run The Jewels - Heart Is Full (Remix)

| Keith
Please don't knock over my heart
Cause my heart is full of you
Yeah, my heart is full of you
I don't worry 'bout tomorrow
Cause my heart is full of you
Yeah, my heart is full of you

iii has been out for a few months now, and it's a been a solid return for Swedish dance rockers Miike Snow. My favorite track from the album is, as you might guess given the way things are going this week, a collaboration. And, yeah, we've got Run The Jewels again. "Heart Is Full", which was also the first single from iii, combines dope beats, some sweet soul vocals and a nice "intro" from Killer Mike.  The video, sans RTJ, is a nice bit of scifi action too.

DJ Shadow feat. Run The Jewels - Nobody Speak

| Keith
We the best
We will cut a frowny face in your chest, little wench
I'm unmentionably fresh, I'm a mensch, get correct
I will walk into a court while erect, screaming "Yes!
I am guilty motherfuckers, I am death."

So, it's looking like this week's going to be all about rap team ups and collaborations! He's my entry: a new one from the amazing DJ Shadow, one of the only DJs I've ever seen rock an outdoor festival stage during the day using only turntables. It's been, oh about five years since we've heard from him and the hype around his new album, The Mountain Will Fall, is growing by the day. As you might expect. We love our Shadow! On "Nobody Speak" he's teaming up with Run The Jewels (who can also rock a daytime festival stage) and it's funky, horny goodness all around.

Banks & Steelz - Giant

| Kerri
Fuck CNN, this is ghetto editorial
See me like milk and Oreos
Dipped inside the audio
Platinum plaques in my portfolio
My lines are fine as wine
And blow your mind like coco

I know yesterday I disregarded a fairly cool collaboration of alt rock and rap, but I'm making up for that with a much cooler one today. Paul Banks, from Interpol, and RZA, leader and emcee in the Wu Tang Clan - also filmmaker and actor - who hang out and play chess (!) one day decided "If we put our [musical] sandwich together, it will be great" and it is.  I'm really looking forward to the full album, out in August, especially the track that features Florence Welch, and to seeing this surely intense act perform live at ACL in October.
