Weezer - King of the World

| Kerri
But you’re not alone, you can let it go
And just weep on my breast
And cover me with your tenderness
And that pain will pass

I enjoy the entirety of Weezer's new White Album, it's just happy-making. Which is a little ironic, seeing as most songs seem to mention a lot of the shitty things wrong with life/the planet.

(It should be noted that Keith is not as impressed as I am with the newer Weezer.)

Minus The Bear - Absinthe Party At The Fly Honey Warehouse

| Keith
Hey, let's cross the sea
And get some culture
Red wine with every meal
And absinthe after dinner
We'd look good side by side
Walking back to the hotel

That about sums up life right now, walking around Barcelona, enjoying the sights, sounds tastes and, well...smells for Kerri, I'm missing out in that sense.

And, hey, what can I say about Minus The Bear? They're one of my favorites; they hit that perfect balance between math rock and pop rock and I've always found their sound super interesting, especially as it's evolved. There's a steel thread that runs through it that carries something unique to them, and you can hear that threads beginning on their first album Highly Refined Pirates, and right here with "Absinthe Party At The Fly Honey Warehouse".

DIIV - Under the Sun

| Kerri
To be free, be awake, big breath you can't fake

One of the several genres Wikipedia lists to describe Brooklyn band DIIV is "dream pop" and, on this track, they make me dream of the beach. They're coming to Austin this weekend! I won't be here to see them, but I will be on a beach.

Upcoming Shows

Nada Surf - Friend Hospital

| Keith
Awkward limo, fantastic cemetery
Reading from a list of your greatest hits
You're dropping them all the time
It's like landing on my favorite planet
When you're crackling through the line
So glad you called
Sharp advice saves my life

Nada Surf make it seem so easy. They're one of those rare bands who've crafted multiple albums I can listen to all the way through without a skip. They're pleasant, but they do pleasant so well it's interesting. The latest album, You Know Who You Are, while not my favorite (that honor goes to The Weight is a Gift), is really great and perfect for a rainy, or a sunny, or a cloudy morning.

Upcoming Shows

Atlas Genius - Molecules

| Kerri
We've been dressed as humans
We've been kings and homeless
Still we're just fragments of a great collide

Alt rockers from Adelaide, Australia taking on a big philosophical idea with a lighthearted sound. They're playing a lot of festivals this summer, and coming to ACL for weekend two in October. I'm going weekend one. If it turns out they play the same day as The Wombats, I'll return to Zilker to see them.
