Thirteen months to the day we last featured Karma Wears White Ties, they released a new EP. Three dreamy indiepop songs that I can (ahem, have) listen(ed) to on repeat for a looooong time without feeling bored. (But don't stop at those, all so good!) Still haven't seen the boys make their way to performing in Austin, but maybe SXSW 2018?

Sjowgren - High Beam
And I don't wanna spend a lifetime
Worried about the side lines
What other people are saying about me
About me
About me
One of our favorite tracks from 2016 was Sjowgren's "Seventeen" and I think I speak for Kerri as well when I say we've been eagerly awaiting some more from them. Well, hooray! We've got some more Sjowgren and its sounding super. The latest of several fantastic new tracks is "High Beam", an upbeat tune that's perfect for a crisp, sunny, Sunday afternoon.

Upcoming Shows
Hazel English, Day Wave - PDA
Yours is the only version of my desertion that I could ever subscribe to
That is all that I can do
You are a past sinner, the last winner, I'm raping all around me
Until the last drop is behind you
But you're so cute when you're frustrated, dear
Yeah, you're so cute when you're sedated, oh dear
This new Interpol cover from Day Wave and Hazel English has a style that walks the line between early 80's sophistiwave and early 90's shoegaze. It's like Spandau Ballet meets Lush and is a great, chill take on the original.
RIYL: Lush, Jay Som, VHS Collection, Sjowgren

Holy Oysters - Just so You Know
Are we too deep into fall for this summery Parisian psychedelic/electronic tune? What's that? Oh yeah, it's never too late. Holy Oysters have an odd origin story (literally about a vision of Holy Oysters) but don't take themselves too seriously. Let this track be a calm, yet funky lead-in to your weekend.
RIYL: Phoenix, Ten Fé, Cairobi, Tame Impala
Upcoming Shows
Stars - Real Thing
You better check yourself and back up baby
We're locking the doors
I've seen the play before but hold up
You started the war
Who told you that the feelings are laid out?
You would decide
You can't have what you can't have, that's right
Cold to survive
Back in the 80's, I went through a sophisti-phase, where I was really into polished, groovy bands like The Style Council, Ultravox and Spandau Ballet. I'm not sure I'd consider Canadian indie superband Stars to be the exact same thing, but they're pretty close. They've been doing polished, feel-good dance-pop for years and I'm so happy they're still at it. Hopefully, I'll get the chance to see them live again soon, as they're shows are up there in terms of pure fun.
