Happy Hollows - Way Home

| Keith
Sometimes the road is too hard to follow
And I'm running away
I'm on my way home

"Way Home" by Happy Hollows has been on my list to share here for a long time and I think it's finally time. Kerri and I are, appropriately on our way home from an awesome little work/love trip to San Francisco, my second home.

We were there for our wonderful friends Nishant and Ganga's wedding. It was such a blast, we danced, met lots of new friends from all over and most importantly shared a lot of love and laughter. We're now on our way home to Austin. We're bringing good California vibes back to Texas y'all. Get ready! In the meantime, enjoy the tunes.

The Greeting Committee - Hands Down

| Kerri
Wrapped inside your sheets
Well, I look up to you
Because you look after me
And kiss me till I bleed
I don't want anything
But all of you
I know I swore, I said
I'll never love again
But—man, oh, man—you're my best friend

Baby, you're hands down the best thing about me
And baby, I don't know where I was
But I'm so glad you found me

Baby, you know I love you
More than my words
Know how to show you

Today's Most Important Song is for lovers, or at least the optimistic. Not that I need an excuse to be happy-sappy, but Keith and I are at a good friend's wedding this weekend. Hope everyone listening can grab someone's hand and skip or dance (or imagine doing so, whilst tapping your steering wheel or whatever) to this sweet song, with just the slightest rough edge. Congrats Nishant & Ganga!

STRFKR - Open Your Eyes

| Kerri
Lonely eyes and a save me smile standing halfway in the night
'Cross the room in this neon tomb
Let it be the satellite

I wanna take you home, boy
Come with me out in the light
Living as somebody else, boy
Open your eyes
You gotta try, boy
Open your eyes
Who doesn’t need another friend
In these bodies...
We are alone

What could I have changed your mind
Tell me
What good when we’re out of time
Won’t say that I never tried
Will you
Set me free by the river side

STFKR's aim is to be anti-establishment creators of "good pop songs that you can also dance to." They've been more successful than they even intended, and I'd go so far as to say their new album (Being No One, Going No Where released November 4th) is their best yet. Sorry to say, Keith and I missed out on Austin's first SOS Fest this past weekend due to weather concerns (and travel conflicts), and ironically STRFKR, a Portland band (i.e. accustomed to wet days), almost had to miss their set Sunday because of the rain (flood warnings and mud) as well. But they prevailed and I heard it was pretty epic.

Republican Hair - I Don't Care

| Kerri
I spent 18 years, baby, 18 years
Underneath an exploding sun
They say it's all going down, baby, all going down
So I might as well have fun

So turn it up, turn it up
I don't care
Burn it up, burn it up
I don't care
If the world is blowing up
I don't care
Gonna do what I want
I don't care

Get a bottle of this, get a bottle of that
Yeah I'm ready for some beer with you
'Cause if it's all going to end, baby, all going to end
We might as well break the rules

Fun, fairly mysterious band that hasn't revealed much about themselves beyond absurdist nonsense - unless you happen to catch a live gig. (Doesn't show below, but they'll play in Nashville on 11/21). For the record, I don't feel at all concerned, as these lyrics would indicate, that the world is going to end. Still, thought this band/song were a fitting tribute to this US election cycle finally being over.

Sundara Karma - Loveblood

| Kerri
Wasted with my arms out, whisper and a loud shout
Lost in the way she says my name
I'm such a creep
Fortune brought me lovers, shadow tarot colors
Fated to kill the sweetest things
One by one

Hey, what's that from above?
Is it love for blood?
Hey, what's that from above?
Is it love for blood?

Hiding in the silence, one-way form of violence
Taste of the thunder from her thighs
Makes me shake
Calmly kicking outwards, since she misunderstood
Walking along the razor's edge
As she sweetly moans

Bright and rocking, yet still moody and thoughtful, British boys Sundara Karma have pretty much solid gems in their brief, 3-EP discography. Really looking forward to their debut LP coming this January. Good news, if you live in L.A. or SF, they just added tour dates for you this morning!
