LCD Soundsystem - call the police

| Keith
It moves like a virus and enters our skin
The first sign divides us, the second is moving to Berlin
But that's not the state I'm in
The air is thin but that's not the state

Friday mystery surprise! Two new tracks from LCD Soundsystem! Both "call the police" and "american dream" have the Soundsystem sporting an eighties feel that just screams New Order, Cure and OMD at different moments. And, ok, on "call the police" maybe a bit of Simple Minds, Psychedelic Furs or even U2. Whatever, there is an unmistakable eighties vibe and it's great.

It's Friday, so today's Most Important Song is going to "call the police" and its funky dance baseline. Will there be more? I certainly hope so!

Coucheron - Loud

| Kerri

Our hearts are in search of the light
Our goal is to keep holding tight
The ferries let go by the night
Our minds aren't thinking the same
We look back on all that is lame
Our spotlight is waiting for fame

And the morning seems too far
As we fly across the sky
What it means is that we die
And the evening never ends
As we hold each others hands
We don't need more

'Cause we are loud

Coucheron is 1/5th of the actual given name of this Norwegian electronic music producer. I read that he won a grammy for his work with Kehlani, and that reminded me it has been a while since I've posted something like this. We're well past the hump of this week, tomorrow is Friday, open your windows and turn this up loud.

Vanic feat. Maty Noyes - Too Soon

| Kerri
Gotta get myself out of this town
Cause we got a lot a history
And if I don't get away, I might drown
In a sea of haunting memories
Everybody wants to know what happened
Cause they thought that we were meant to be
And I'm sorry I don't have an answer
But people always asking me

Vancouver B.C. dance music creator Vanic is breaking his way into the mainstream with this one. (Okay, he already went viral with "Samurai" last year, but I feel like this is the track that's going to get on the regular FM stations, which I'm sure still matters because it's like free advertising = increased ticket sales, premium festival spots, and chances to produce with people like Selena Gomez or her ex bf = $$$$). Yes, you can count on me for the occasional injection of pure dance music onto TMIS. Have a fun Saturday night, y'all!

Los Campesinos! - 5 Flucloxacillin

| Keith
Am I a piggy bank of obsolete currency?
An order of merit from country known for tyranny?
Another blister pack pops, but I still feel much the same
Thirty-one, and depression is a young man's game
Found a fiver screwed up inside a prescription receipt
From the salbutamol (No, a gift from the sertraline)
Hallowed be somnolence brought on by the tramadol
Damned be the knowledge that's it, now you have tried 'em all

One of my favorite SXSW memories comes from Welsh indie kids Los Campesinos!, who piled up on a small stage, cramming it full with smiling faces, a plethora of odd instruments and some seriously fun energy. That must have been about 10 years back and I've sort of lost track of them since. It felt pretty lucky when that I noticed their new cut "5 Flucloxacillin" this week. It's a lot of fun and it took me down a memory lane filled with songs familiar and new. Hopefully, if my luck holds out I can see them again soon.

Bonus! The awesome animated video for "You! Me! Dancing!"

Shout Out Louds - Illusions

| Keith
A heart is what a heart is
It won't forget where it came from
And when I walked down the line
I'm walking with you
I give what I can give
Enough should be enough
And at the end of the line I know
I'll still be with you

Just a guess, but I think most people know Sweden's Shout Out Louds for their Cure-inspired "Tonight I Have To Leave It", which is great and probably as close as you're going to get to Robert Smith style vocals without getting his makeup all over your clothes. Ha. But, anyway, it's good, but they've got many other great tracks and albums, like my favorite, 2013's Optica, which features today's Most Important, "Illusions". It's a fantastic, dancey indie pop anthem and, if you've not heard it, consider yourself in for a treat.
