Monogrenade - Ce soir

| Keith
Ce soir j'te fait danser
J'te jure j'te fait danser
J'tai pas oublié
C'est juste que ça me hante
Que tu me vois étrange
Qu'un jour on se réveille

I've been wanting to share this wonderful song from Montreal's Monogranade for awhile now. They do have an English version of the song, "We Will Be Free" but even though I can't understand a lick of it, I like the original French. Most of their other music has a similar atmospheric and sophisticated feel that's really chill.

The stop-motion video for "Ce soir" is also excellent. Check it out:

Young Fathers - Shame

| Keith
Nothing but a barefaced lie
Is all you cunts can hold on to
I suggest you downgrade fast
Before it's a shame on you

Imma sing, "What a shame on you"
Where's your gall when it's a shame on you?

I've got no clue what they're going on about, but I dig the rhythm and vibe of "Shame" by Scottish Indie R&B trio Young Fathers. This one's been popping up here and there and I finally decided to give some of their back catalog a listen. It's good stuff and they cover a really wide variety of musical styles.

Plumb - In My Arms (Kaskade Mix)

| Kerri

Your baby blues
So full of wonder
Your curly cues
Your contagious smile
And as i watch
You start to grow up
All I can do
is hold you tight

Knowing clouds will rage in
Storms will race in
But you will be safe in my arms
Rains will pour down
Waves will crash around
But you will be safe in my arms

Story books are full of fairy tales
Of kings and queens and the bluest skies
My heart is torn just in knowing
You'll someday see the truth from lies

When the clouds will rage in
Storms will race in
But you will be safe in my arms
Rains will pour down
Waves will crash around
But you will be safe in my arms

Castles – they might crumble
Dreams may not come true
But you are never all alone
'Cause I will always,
Always love you

Thanks to my sweetheart for recognizing women and moms on the reg, and for making sure I had a wonderful Mother's Day. I thought I'd do my own MIS on the topic, and remembered this gem that came out the year my third son was born. Touching lyrics and fun to dance to! Plumb (Tiffany Arbuckle Lee, mom of 3) started out a Christian Contemporary artists, but her sometimes edgy (emo) lyrics, and affinity for EDM remixes pushed her across several categories. I first heard her back in '99, when she had an indie cut ("Stranded") on the Drive Me Crazy soundtrack. She also had a great song ("Damaged") on the Brokedown Palace soundtrack that same year.

Gold Class - Twist in the Dark

| Keith

Gold Class, a Melbourne-based post-punk outfit, have a killer throw-back sound. They remind me a bit of Interpol, both in their overall sound, but also they're kind of to Fugazi what Interpol was to Joy Division. Not a copy cat, but an inspired take. The comparisons don't stop there, while I was diving into their music I was reminded of a lot of great stuff. "Twist in the Dark" is the first cut of their upcoming album and it's ace.
