DMA's - Dawning

| Keith

This new track from Sydney-based indie outfit DMA's might be a bit (what I like to call) Dawson's Creek, but I've been really enjoying it. I'll leave it up to you to figure out what I mean by that, so have a listen and enjoy a pleasant start to your Monday.

Mattiel - Count Your Blessings

| Keith

Mattiel is a bluesy rocker from Atlanta, Georgia who's self-titled first LP hit a few weeks back. It's got kind of a straight-forward down-home American feel to it and, while it's not ground-breaking, has a few stand-out tracks, today's Most Important, "Count Your Blessings" being my favorite of the bunch.

RIYL: Alvvays, Courtney Barnett, La Sera, Angel Olsen

Dutch Criminal Record - Wasted Time

| Kerri

You ran away the hours
You're losing track of time
Thinking about something

Further down the line
What's the point in that?
What's the point in this?
Thinking about something
Further down the line

These days you used to love
But you are not sure just
What you are thinking of

DCR calling their style "summery south coast indie" makes me smile because they're referring to the English coast which is rarely particularly summery IMO.

RIYL: Tipling Rock, High Sunn, Only Sun, DIIV

Bethlehem Steel - Alt Shells

| Keith
I wish I could fall apart
See how long it takes to get back whole again
Maybe you could break my heart
And I won’t care

Let's keep it going with the rocking Rebecca Ryskalczyk and Bethlehem Steel. "Alt Shells" is one of two awesome tracks available now ("Fig" being the other) from their upcoming album Party Naked Forever.

RIYL: Cayetana, Hammerbox, Bully, The Coathangers

Alice Merton - No Roots

| Kerri

I like digging holes and, hiding things inside them
When I grow old, I hope I won't forget to find them
Cause, I've got memories and travel like gypsies in the night

I build a home and wait for, someone to tear it down
Then pack it up in boxes, head for the next town
Cause, I've got memories and travel like gypsies in the night

Continuing the week with another rocking female groove, I present to you Canadian/German/British Alice Merton (if you haven't already heard her a dozen times on your alt station). A sudden darling on my local station, I keep hearing bits of this track when I'm flipping the dial and finally tracked down who/what it was this morning. Hitting the ground running with a solid label (Mom + Pop) behind her, her first EP (which this song is part of but which is not on Spotify) came out in July and won an award in Germany already.

RIYL: Florence + The Machine, Joseph, LP, Mitski
