Sharaya Summers - Light of the Moon

| Keith
The nightingale sings a song regardless
The flowers bloom and they don't ask way
Making mistakes, guess the point is that we tried

Perfect for lazy Sunday morning, LA-based Sharaya Summer's debut "Light of the Moon" is a simple, beautiful indie-pop gem.

Beck - Up All Night

| Kerri

When you get the rhythm and words all make you cold
When they break it down and this world is all you know
Hands up, you're waving it 'round
Now get yourself together
When you count the dominos fall, it's time to go

Now I'm feeling so far away
I see the colors and all the kids going home
Night is crawling into the day
I hear my voice ringing
The summertime's singing

It's an objectively amazing feat to be a mononymously known, multi-instrumental, multi-decade, multi-grammy winning artist. I have to admit to respecting Beck's artistry, talent, and uniqueness way more than I actually love most of his songs. "Loser" will forever be an anthem - I mean, I was in high school when that came out so of course. The Kanye West weirdness at the 2015 Grammy's was another unforgettable moment. Those things are almost 25 years apart!! He seems like a cool cat and I like this single more than most of what I've heard from him over the years (my personal taste, and maybe about exposure as well -- gotta admit his affiliation with Scientology became a real turn-off for me). Anyway, here's to being weird and making it work, kicking off this week's Most Important Songs.

Fake Palms - Glass Walls

| Keith
I'm not sure all the things you think you did
Can you prescribe me pills or medicine?

Canadian noise poppers Fake Palms' album Pure Mind is out today and it's a gleaming example of polished, lo-fi pop/rock. The first single "Glass Walls" doesn't capture the breadth of the full LP, which is fairly eclectic, but it'll give you a great taste of what's in store. And it's tasty.

RIYL: Camp Cope, Preoccupations, Parquet Courts, A Place To Bury Strangers

Two Door Cinema Club - Next Year (RAC Remix)

| Kerri
I don't know where I
Am going to rest my head tonight.
So I won't promise that I'll speak
To you today,
But if I ever find
Another place, a better time
For that moment,
I was never what I am.

Take to me to where you are,
What you've become,
And what you will do
When I am gone.
I won't forget,
I won't forget.

We're going to TDCC next week with a bunch of friends and even though I saw this band twice last year I'm really excited - their set is pure fun! How does so much good music come out of little ol' Ireland? And for today's MIS I picked another mix by RAC - pseudonym for AndrĂ© Alan Anjos. He's such a unique producer, working with everyone from U2 and Lady Gaga to Linkin Park and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, throw in New Order for good measure. (He also lives in Portland, Oregon via Porto, Portugal and likes to post pics for #caturday, quirky facts I love.) Anyway, enjoy this mellow treat on your Thursday and I hope you have lots of things to look forward to, whether it's a show, or cat pics, or your next trip home.

RIYL: Wombats, Vampire Weekend, Phoenix, Bastille

TRASH - I'm No Good

| Kerri
Do it again, mess with my head
No one has to go
Screw me again, fuck up my bed
Put back on your clothes
If you have to go
I guess that's also fine

Earnest indie dream pop out of Chesterfield, England. They want to make you smile while you're sad and dance and maybe laugh a little - and they advertise true love to be found at their live shows so if you're in the market, and in the UK, you should probably give that a try.

RIYL: Day Wave, RINSE, Slowdive, DIIV, Amber Clouds
