Joyce Manor - Fake I.D.

| Keith
Don't be fooled
The first two hours ruled
But then she seduced
Herself out of her room
Singing, "What do you think about Kanye West?"
"I think that he's great, I think he's the best"
"Yeah, I think he's better than John Steinbeck
I think he's better than Phil Hartman"
"Don't you agree?"
"Can't you see you're just like me
The man can do things
The rest of us can only dream of, baby"

This morning wasn't the first morning I woke with Joyce Manor's "Fake I.D." rolling along through my brain. It's one catchy song, and one of the more poppy off their latest release, 2016's Cody. If you're into catchy and smart pop (think Weezer, Jawbraker, The Front Bottoms) you'll likely dig this.

Sharaya Summers - Light of the Moon

| Keith
The nightingale sings a song regardless
The flowers bloom and they don't ask way
Making mistakes, guess the point is that we tried

Perfect for lazy Sunday morning, LA-based Sharaya Summer's debut "Light of the Moon" is a simple, beautiful indie-pop gem.

RIYL: Land of Talk, Waxahatchee, Wye Oak, Big Thief, Sharon Van Etten

Wolf Parade - You're Dreaming

| Kerri

All these scenes of shattered glass
All your systems in collapse
On the screen they move so fast it’s just like life
But we’re dreaming

I got
Metal in my blood
Dancing around to the magnets
What about our love
So hard to start in a violent age
And i don’t wanna
I don’t wanna live in the place anymore
Everybody cries
Everybody needs some comfort

Canadian post-punk indie rockers Wolf Parade released their first LP on SubPop in 2005, went on hiatus in 2010, but are coming at us hot & fresh with this new single. And they're opening up for Arcade Fire (as they did when first starting) - including tomorrow night in Austin. Happy we saw them earlier this year at Boston Calling!

RIYL: Broken Social Scene, Cymbals Eat Guitars, Okkervil River, The Walkmen

Parlours - A Little Afraid

| Kerri

We're spending the whole weekend in Nashville and though we're not huge country music fans, we can appreciate that a lot of good music comes from and through Music City. Today's MIS comes from an Iowa indie band if we're getting technical, but was featured on the last episode of CMT's hit TV show "Nashville" so I think it's a perfect compromise. Lead singer Dana Halferty also does a slow, beautiful cover of "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" - if you want to check that out it's on SoundCloud & below.

RIYL: Elizabeth & the Catapult, Deb Talan, Lennon & Maisy, The Band Perry

Moss - The Promise

| Keith
When it feels right you know it
Be don't so cute don't let it die
Now, she's right
Stay together no goodbye

Amsterdam band Moss makes polished, sophisticated indie rock. Their new album, Strike, is full of tight, compelling tracks that feel like a family, but also hit on a variety of arrangements and themes that keep it interesting. They can venture a bit into a math-rock jam here and there, but it mostly works.

RIYL: Nada Surf, Sloane, Matt Pond PA, Midlake, Pinback
