Vanic feat. Maty Noyes - Too Soon

| Kerri
Gotta get myself out of this town
Cause we got a lot a history
And if I don't get away, I might drown
In a sea of haunting memories
Everybody wants to know what happened
Cause they thought that we were meant to be
And I'm sorry I don't have an answer
But people always asking me

Vancouver B.C. dance music creator Vanic is breaking his way into the mainstream with this one. (Okay, he already went viral with "Samurai" last year, but I feel like this is the track that's going to get on the regular FM stations, which I'm sure still matters because it's like free advertising = increased ticket sales, premium festival spots, and chances to produce with people like Selena Gomez or her ex bf = $$$$). Yes, you can count on me for the occasional injection of pure dance music onto TMIS. Have a fun Saturday night, y'all!

YACHT - Where Does This Disco?

| Keith
Dontcha wanna make me move
When the needle's locked in the grove, yeah
I made myself a copy of you
When you told me that my dreams would come true
I'm spinning round and round for you
A lonely one
Check check
Checking on two
I'm sitting in an empty room
Pixels acting with pictures of you, you, you

I remember when "Psychic City" came out. I listened to that song over and over and over. I still get a nice little thrill when I hear it. "Aye ya ya ya!" Anyway, it's Friday night, and that means it's time to dance, and I can't think of a better cut to kick off a dance party.

BONUS! (Yep, it's "Psychic City")

Christine and the Queens - Tilted

| Kerri

I'll die way before Methuselah
So I'll fight sleep with ammonia
And every morning, with eyes all red
I'll miss them for all the tears they shed

But I'm actually good
Can't help it if we're tilted
I'm actually good
Can't help it if we

The other day I featured a band with a singular name, today it's a solo artist with a band moniker. Héloïse Letissier is a French singer and electronic music producer. She was picked as one of the 100 Women of 2016 by the BBC, and performed this song for the Christmas special edition of Top of the Pops. "Tilted" was originally written in French and released in 2014 under the title "Christine" and I dig both versions.

Mutemath - Changes

| Keith
Stay where you like
They won't care
You pay for the right
But what is there?
When every place in the world
Is all built up
Every space in the herd
Is all filled up

So yesterday Kerri covered one of our favorites, TøP, and although she didn't pick the song I would have ("Ode To Sleep" FTW) she did a great job. With one teensy, weensy, oversight: she missed the great collaboration that dropped the night before. TøP teamed up with their tour-mates Mutemath to reimagine some of their hits. It's wonderful and you can read more about it here. It also sounds like they had a great time on tour. If you've never seen TøP or Mutemath, do yourself a big favor and do it, they're both amazing live. Seriously, I can't really think of two better live acts.

I've been a fan of Mutemath from the beginning, and have listened to them grow and change over the years. They've covered a lot of musical ground and have done it with style, talent and a unique polish that works like steel thread that ties it all together. They're latest work has swung towards the electronic and groovy, but still sounds like Mutemath, as is clearly evident in today's MIS "Changes".

Nick Murphy - Stop Me

| Kerri

Keep waking up in the night
When my ears turn red
I heard some shit that I said
You're probably trying to be nice
I'm not cold, I just been through way worse times

I'm not dreaming now
I'm in control
You can't bring me down

You can't stop me, I made it this far
Alright
I can't help it
Got things I need to do
Before I wait on you, oh

Nick Murphy is a conceptual singer-songwriter with an electronic twist. Formerly recording/releasing as Chet Faker, the Australian decided to move forward with his given name instead. Fittingly, the video for his 2014 hit "Talk is Cheap" showed the metaphoric life and death of the artist. "Stop Me" is the first single for the upcoming album by Murphy, and has a double-length version to the one included here, which he says is the yang to the first half's ying. I chose the radio-length version instead, since I often don't have patience for an 8 minute track, but it's really beautiful if you want to go ahead and add it to your personal playlist.
